The sixth episode of the second season of the series is called "Mobots" (orig. "Mobots").
Sergeant Maaka informs O'Leary and Minogue about recent cases of simultaneous theft of multiple electronic devices, including outdated mobile phones.
Officers visit the home of O'Leary's mother, located near a cell tower that is the center of strange activity. That night, they watch as the missing phones form a snake, and then, along with other electrical devices, assemble into a humanoid robot. The latter is controlled by O'Leary's 2004 mobile phone and wants to take revenge on its former owners, seeking to turn modern gadgets against them.
The robot receives a message about the availability of updates. When you try to install them, an error occurs, and the robot falls apart.
Phenomena in artwork: Poltergeist
In this episode an unknown force makes the old appliances to move and to be assembled into robots of different sizes. They are reasonable and work together. At the end of the episode all electrical appliances are collected in one large humanoid robot and plan to "destroy people and replace them with the army of Superintelligent robots." The plan fails because of a failed attempt to update the robot system ceases to function and falls apart into its component parts.
The reason for the unusual behavior of electrical appliances is not clarified. Sergeant Maak suggests: "the microchips in cell phones connect to each other and work together to create powerful supercomputers, which over the years of interaction with people has developed its own artificial intelligence with full self-awareness", in this case "all the electronics connected magnetic forces." However, these assumptions are not confirmed, and even a police expert in the field of IT in them doubt.
