This evening there was a clear frosty dark sky. The residents of the most extreme 9-storey building were going about their usual business. From the windows of the house, an open area could be seen and the ribbon of Krasnoselsky highway, cutting it from the left side of the house at an angle to its center, stretching to the horizon. The airfield's runway was also visible to the left.

In this direction, between the highway and the airfield, at 19-30, Alekseevna Nadtochnaya (housewife) led from the window of her kitchen on the 8th floor by chance saw a bright glowing ball in the night sky at eye level at a decent distance (1.5-2 km). It was obvious that it was not a celestial body or an airplane.

Further events developed as follows.

Vera Alekseevna's husband, retired officer Nikolai Afanasievich Nadtochiy, was in the kitchen here. What they saw through the binoculars of the BPC 16x50 plunged them into amazement. In the beginning, it was just a brightly glowing ball (like a halogen car headlight). Despite the remoteness of the object, its angular size was approximately 15 mm. the movements of the ball were abrupt for a short distance with a return to the original point, as if it were drawing rays in all directions from the center.

It should be noted that the observation with binoculars was carried out in turn, and because of the unusual behavior of the object, each observer saw the object in his own way.

List of eyewitnesses to the phenomenon

After 20 minutes (at 19-50), their son Andrey (crane operator) came home, who also joined the observations.

Vera Alekseevna called the neighbors living on the 9th floor in the apartment above them at about 20-00. Air Force Major Alexander Petrovich Popov, born in 1955, and his 10-year-old son Dima, who began to observe from their apartment using the Tourist telescope. And she also invited a neighbor from the apartment opposite the civil engineer Novikova Valentina Nikolaevna, born in 1940.

At 20-25 Andrey called his friend Mikhail Vladimirovich Ivanov, born in 1974, who lives in the next house, and at 20-35 Mikhail already joined the observers.

Valentina Nikolaevna Novikova called her friend at 20-30, who lives on the other side of the city in the Balyu district on Khazova Street on the 3rd floor, Nikipelova Lyubov Petrovna and her husband Vladimir Nikolaevich, who began to observe with binoculars. the facility was accessible to them due to the open area, despite their territorial remoteness.

At the same time, on 20-30, the wife of Air Force Major Popov Irina Nikolaevna, a salesman born in 1957, returned from work and connected to the observations of her husband and son through a telescope.

At 20-50, she invited her neighbor, who lives in the apartment opposite (9th floor), the operator of the communications department, Galina Mukhina Alexandrovna, born in 11953, and her daughter Elena, a college student born in 1878, who brought binoculars with them.

Also at 20-45 Irina Nikolaevna called her friend, who lives on the 2nd floor of the house, but she replied that she did not see the object (apparently because of the trees).

Thus, from the moment the object was discovered at 19-30 to its departure at 21-50, at least 12 people observed it at different time intervals.

The overall picture of what happened

For 2 hours and 5 minutes, the object was in one place and depicted various figures. It constantly changed its color and the color of the glow surrounding it. The figures changed at intervals from 1 to 3 minutes. At 21-35, the object, continuing to change shapes, began to slowly move away to the horizon in the direction of the Red Village, spending 15 minutes passing 10 cm of angular distance, after which it abruptly disappeared from sight in the same direction in 5-10 seconds.

Personally, I watched the object the longest, though without binoculars, because it changed hands. even without going out on the balcony, where there is double glass, I saw different figures that appeared and parts were illuminated with rainbow colors, i.e. yellow, green, red.

It is characteristic that figures 1 and 3 had some kind of ball at the end, which is attached at the end. the object, we can say, hung in one place for a long time, making it possible to calmly observe it without binoculars. then, gradually gaining speed, he moved away towards Krasnoye Selo, as well as the Kiev highway, between Gatchina and Krasnoye Selo.

Mikhail Vladimirovich Galanin (8th floor):

On January 31, 1996, at 20-30, a friend called and said that his mother was observing an unusual phenomenon in the sky that looked like a "flying saucer".

I came right away. but even as I was approaching the house, I saw a bright object in the sky. He could be said to be above the trees. Between the top of the tree and the "star", a writing pen could be placed on an outstretched arm in an upright position. After climbing to the 8th floor, my friend (Andrey) and I went out on the balcony and began to observe the object through binoculars.

The first thing I saw was a triangle with pronounced vertices in the form of no lines between the vertices. There was also a ball in the middle, slightly offset to the bottom.

When I took the binoculars from Andrey, the object had a different shape in the form of a semicircle of bright white color. and all this happened between 20-35 and 20-50. In addition, the object was moving towards the horizon in the direction between Krasny Selo and Gatchina.

Dmitry Popov (9th floor):

The unusual glow of a bright star began to look with the naked eye, the size of 5 kopecks, was observed for about 2 hours. The aerial object was constantly changing its shape and size. When they began to observe with binoculars and a telescope, it was clearly possible to see that the object always emitted bright rays and often multicolored. The object took the form of a rocket, a plate, jaws, a pear, a dot.

As the object was removed, the glow became less bright. The object was moving away towards Krasny Selo.

Nikolay Afanasyevich Nadtochny (8th floor):

First, I saw a figure in the shape of a white airplane in a multicolored pulsating halo. After that there was a "wedge". Then I saw a mushroom grow out of the previous figure. It was an interesting trapeze with a ball in the middle.

Andrey Nadtochny and Mikhail Galanin (8th floor):

At about 20-55, a plane landed at the airfield.

Valentina Nikolaevna Novikova (8th floor):

I started observing at 20-30 from figure 16. Next, I saw a cigar-an airplane of matte white color with a length of TU-154, but a little more width. Its oval shape of the fuselage was visible. On the tail there are two vertical red stripes glowing like neon lamps. I've seen Figure 16 several times.

Galina Alexandrovna Mukhina (9 eatj):

Around 21-00, the "dot" had a reddish tint. Through binoculars I saw a red rectangle, then gradually from right to left the color changed to green. then there was the trapeze. The pointed trapezoid had a glow around it like a "welding". All the figures were red and green, I didn't see any white ones.

Elena Mukhina (9th floor):

I saw a rectangle of red, green, and white. I also saw the angle pointing downwards (multicolored).

Alexander Petrovich Popov (9th floor):

I watched about 2 hours of aces. At first I saw the rays that diverged. then in the form of a circle streaked with a grid as on the radar. Then in the form of a shallow plate with a diagonal slope. I saw a "rocket arrow" pointing towards Krasny Selo. I also saw the right pear, then the dot.

Dima Popov (9th floor):

A circle of regular and irregular shape in an orange cage. Then there was a rectangle and a crest on top of it (all of it is red).

Nikipelova Lyubov Petrovna (3rd floor):

I saw a bright round ball with yellow-red lights around it.

Popova Irina Nikolaevna (9th floor):

I watched it for only 10 minutes. I saw a trapezoid with a red and green glow pulsating around it, with an hour of flashing airplane lights.

Mikhail Vladimirovich Galanin (8th floor):

I also saw figure 2, like Vera Alekseevna, but through binoculars, and I could clearly see the multicolored glow lights along the entire contour of this strange figure. when removed, the ball had a figure of 27.

When interviewing eyewitnesses, it turned out that two of them had previously seen UFOs once each.

During the investigation on February 9, it was quite by chance that one high school student living nearby in the same block was found. When asked about the object, the answer was: "And we observed it." It turned out literally the following. 

During February 6,7,8 and 9, she and her friend go out for a walk every evening (from 20-00 to 20-30 or 21-00) and observe an object in the sky not very high above nearby houses. The object glows like a night street lamp. he moves slowly and leaves after half an hour. what she told me at school. So, apparently, there are quite a few witnesses to this case, especially since some neighbor of theirs, whose address they do not know, drew the attention of friends to this object on February 6.
