Initial data
"About two weeks ago, Doctor A. sent the Antichrist to the police from the county... in the bank, and since there was alcohol in the latter, the enemy of the human race managed to drown..."- wrote the Yekaterinburg News on December 14, 1886. Further in the note it was told that Chelyabinsk residents, not believing in the death of the antichrist, are hounding the police and threatening a pogrom. As a result, in order to pacify popular unrest, "the authorities were forced to announce that the antichrist was imprisoned in a "cold" and moreover under two locks."
In fact, of course, it was not the Antichrist at all, but material evidence in a murder case. According to one version, a peasant woman gave birth to a freak, got scared, killed him and buried him. The husband began to find out where the child was, reported the incident to the authorities. The woman had to confess to what she had done. The dug-up body was pickled and taken to the police station. Further, the popular rumor became overgrown with rumors, and Chelyabinsk residents, not spoiled by outlandish things, decided that the police were hiding the Antichrist.
