"The facts date back to January 6, but only yesterday the witness released them", - according to Le Télégramme in its issue of January 22, 1979.
Like every evening, the fisherman from Saint-Mathieu in Bannalec left home with his German shepherd on an evening walk.
22:04 an unusual object was seen a few metres from the ground, almost over his head.
"It was about fifteen meters in diameter," he says. "Its shape was round, like an inverted saucer with a glowing cabin, from which came faint whistles. The saucer seemed to be oscillating from left to right and exuded an aura of blue light. It was unreal, one and a half to two minutes the machine disappeared with a fantastic speed in the direction of Douarnenez."
According to the documents of the national Commission for the study of this phenomenon 21 UFO witness 61 was registered in finistère during the period from January 1974 to June 1976.

Le 6 janvier 1979, vers 22 heures, un pisciculteur a observé un mystérieux OVNI qui l’a définitivement bouleversé.
L’homme a raconté, trois jours plus tard, ce qui s’était passé au journal Le Télégramme. Le soir des faits, il venait de sortir de chez lui accompagné de son berger allemand à Saint-Mathieu, dans la commune de Bannalec, en Bretagne.
A 22h04, précisément, quelque chose de surnaturel est apparu non loin du témoin médusé. A seulement quelques mètres du sol, presque au-dessus de sa tête, un immense engin non identifié s’est subitement arrêté. Le témoin raconte :
« Il avait une quinzaine de mètres de diamètre. Sa forme était circulaire, comme une assiette renversée qui aurait été surmontée d'une sorte de bol, un habitacle lumineux d'où émanaient de faibles sifflements. La soucoupe semblait se dandiner de gauche à droite. Elle émettait un halo de lumière bleue. »
Il poursuit : « C'était irréel. au bout d'une minute et demie à deux minutes, l'engin a disparu à une vitesse fantastique en direction de Douarnenez ».
L’homme terrorisé avait relaté son aventure à peine croyable aux gendarmes de Rosporden et de Bannalec.
Il est intéressant de noter qu’entre janvier 1974 et juin 1976, 21 OVNI avaient été rapportés par 61 témoins différents dans le Finistère.
Le site Internet Phénomène Aérospatial s’est naturellement intéressé à cette affaire et pense tenir une explication :
« Aucun autre témoignage n’a été recueilli et aucune trace au sol n’a été observée le lendemain. D’après le bruit et le mouvement de balancement constatés, le témoin a probablement observé un hélicoptère. »
Cette hypothèse est certes rationnelle mais elle ne correspond en rien avec la description fournie par le seul témoin de cette apparition énigmatique …
