Un piloto y un estudiante piloto en un Cherokee 140 monomotor inmediatamente después de alcanzar una Altitud de crucero de 2.300 pies (sobre el nivel del Suelo) en un curso de 240° se encontraron con un objeto que al principio se consideró un paracaídas defectuoso.
En un momento dado, el UAO pasó por encima de su nariz, girando hacia la izquierda y pasando el ala derecha del avión por no más de 10 pies (3 m). En el momento en que pasó, el vórtice los golpeó tan fuerte que el planeador del avión gimió en protesta y el altímetro mostró que "algo estaba mal".
Continuó curvándose hacia la izquierda, volviendo a lo que parecía ser su curso original de 355°, aún acelerando, y finalmente comenzó a ganar altura hasta que finalmente desapareció en una neblina lejana.
En ningún momento durante la reunión, el OVNI mostró ningún rastro de escape.

At one point, the UAO flicked across their nose, veering to its left and missing the aircraft’s right wing tip by no more than 10 feet. At the instant that it passed, the vortex hit them so hard that the plane’s airframe groaned in protest, and the altimeter “went wacky”. It continued to curve to the left, back on what appeared to be its original heading of 355°, still accelerating, and eventually beginning to climb until it finally disappeared into the distance haze. At no time during the encounter had the UFO shown any sort of exhaust trail.
