On Thursday, a man said he saw a dinosaur-like bird in a public park about 50 miles northwest of Tucson.
Ruben Navarrete, a 28-year-old construction worker, told Cryptozoology News that he and a friend were driving along the north side of Eloy, Arizona, when 13 years ago he spotted a large bird in North Park, a place designed to provide residents with sports and a variety of recreational activities.
"I saw a bird sitting on top of some overgrown trees," he said of the winged creature.
The man claims that the surveillance lasted about 15 seconds and that they did not stop the car to investigate. His friend Ray, who was the driver at the time of the discovery, did not see the animal.
"It was huge. The way I would describe it... sounds crazy, but it was like a dinosaur bird, "he explained, referring to an extinct flying reptile known as a pterosaur, which is Greek for"winged lizard."
Its color, he said, was dark brown, with no feathers or hair on its skin. Navarrete estimates that the size of the bird was about 12 feet (3.6 m) tall.
"Everyone in my family knows what I saw. Now that I know that other people have seen something like this, I want people to know that I have seen it and that I am not crazy, " Navarrete said.
