About an unusual phenomenon in nature observed on September 20, 1977, from the ship "XVI Congress of the Komsomol"

It was the above-mentioned number between 23-24 hours. Our ship was bunkering in Povenets and almost all the members of its crew in the northeast of it observed an unusual phenomenon in the sky. At some difficult-to-determine altitude, I saw a bright red "ball" about 1/2 - 2/3 the diameter of the Moon. Three obliquely directed blue-green rays radiated down from it, the middle one
which was significantly shorter than the extreme ones.
After some time, the "ball" covered the clouds, which, blocking this unusual glow from the "ball", differed from the rest of the clouds, in a place where the light radiation from the ball was blocked by some particularly dark image. To the right of the clouds and the "ball" at an angle of 30-35 °, a bright, bright, constantly iridescent bluish-green light shone from me. It was the northern lights, These two light effects from the "ball" and the northern lights, although they occurred simultaneously, but it seemed to me, and to other members of the crew of our ship, independent of each other phenomena in nature.
Moreover, the first of them was surprising, because we had never seen anything like this before.
The observations were intermittent, because Paramonov A.P., during the bunkering of the vessel in Poventse, was busy with his official duties.
