Initial data
Observation of the UFO phenomenon at night on May 15, 1981 time from 1-00 to 2-00, Vsevolzhsk district near Leningrad.
The testimony of an eyewitness Kolchanov Sergey Iosifovich.
On the night of May 15, 1981, I was woken up by my wife, who led me into an adjacent room with windows facing north. The apartment was on the 3rd floor. At an altitude of about 2 km, I saw a bright ball right in front of the windows. It emitted white light and was surrounded by a translucent shell.
3 beams emanated from the ball. the sphere with the shell was moving in the direction of the windows of the house, and left behind a trace of the inversion type. Following this trail, I saw that it was moving in a straight line to the southwest.
After a short period of time, the balloon hovered, and stood motionless in front of the windows of the house. The light emitted by it can be compared in intensity and strength with the light of a military flare that was suspended from a parachute to illuminate the target.
Then, 15-20 minutes after hovering, the spherical smoky sphere-shell began to turn into an annular one, gradually increasing in diameter.
After a while (3-5 min.) The diameter of the ring stabilized and the ball began to move away in a north-northeast direction. Decreasing to half of the initial angular magnitude (at the moment of hovering), a second ball appeared far on the horizon. small in size, but very similar to the first ball, and also with three rays emanating from it. The second balloon was observed simultaneously with the first one for 2-3 minutes, after which it disappeared.
The first ball continued to move approximately in the direction of the second ball, and gradually disappeared too. All movements of the ball took place in complete silence.
The direction of the ball's reverse movement was strictly rectilinear. The direct observation of the phenomenon, the close hover and its change of direction of movement during departure, lasted 15 minutes. The entire observation lasted for 1 hour.
Hypotheses
Pyrotechnics

This category includes not only pyrotechnic projectiles visible in the sky, but also traces of exploded projectiles, their fragments and other similar activities.
Pyrotechnics is a branch of technology related to the technology of preparing combustible compounds and burning them to obtain a certain signal or effect.
Divided into:
Booster, the rocket and tracks

For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
