On October 20, 1988, Alexey Vsevolodovich Bachandin, upon returning from the field at the Gomontovo state farm, as part of a group of 13 people, had the opportunity to observe an unusual phenomenon in the western part of the sky.

October 20 was a clear, frosty day, the sky was cloudless. Already after sunset (17-40 and 17-50) of the sun, something like the burning dawn. While driving on the highway Nagorye-Runners at 18-50 from the window of the van in which our group was traveling. a bright light was seen behind the forest. Initially, it was assumed that this was a fire at a distance of 1-1.5 km from the highway. However, after leaving the open place. We saw that the glow is much further away and is above the ground.

At 18-55, the van was left near the state farm [...]. For several minutes, the group observed this phenomenon from one point.

According to my impression, the glow in color, luster, size, speed of movement is comparable to the setting sun.

The glow had the appearance of an inverted isosceles triangle, directed by the vertex to the horizon at a slight angle. The glow was observed over the edge of the forest. The dimensions of the triangles' hips are comparable to the diameter of the sun's disk when it touches the horizon. The base of the triangle is 1\3\ or 1\2 of the diameter of the sun.

The glow was bright, orange, but it was not uniform. Distant parts (zones, dots) glittered brighter, then paler.

At the first moment of observation in the open, it was seen that the vertices of the glowing triangle are at a height comparable to the diameter of the disk of the setting sun. After a while, it became noticeable that the distance from the top of the triangle was decreasing, then the top touched the horizon and the triangle began to go over the horizon and completely disappeared at 18-58. The speed of movement seemed to me comparable to the speed of the setting sun.
