The beam did not cause a glow (response) on snow and houses, so this phenomenon could only be observed by those who looked at the sky either straight or to the side capturing near-Earth space, depending on how the eyes are focused.

The angle of incidence was approximately 22.5 degrees per eye, half of the angle was 45 degrees. accordingly, the height of the object can be approximately calculated by knowing the tangent of 11 degrees 15 seconds. Unfortunately, right now I don't have a slide rule or tables at hand.

The approximate height of the object was from 300 to 500 meters. But not more than a kilometer. With the help of a protractor and a ruler, 625 meters turned out. (sorry for digressing from the essence of what is happening)

Having slowed down, even if I looked closely, I realized that this was not a yellow star, but how should I say it, an ellipse with sharp corners or something. And the axis of this figure was vertical with respect to the earth.

From this yellow, glowing figure, a bright green ray fell to the ground. Suddenly the beam crawled (began to move in space) from the village to the factory, for a moment I found myself in the area of the beam, my eyes were not blinded, only green rings swam in my eyes. Now it seemed that the object was shining as if in all directions, highlighting a large green circle in the dark frosty air (it all depends on how to look intently - attentively or relaxed, because you can see only one leaf of a tree, and relaxing your vision you can see both the tree and everything that is around).

There was a crunching of snow behind me, I turned around sharply, a man was following me. When I caught up, I said to him, "I'm sorry, have you ever seen this?" and he pointed with his hand towards the "yellow star" glowing in a bright green "halo". We stopped and looked at the mysterious phenomenon in silence for a few moments. Then they walked slowly and then the "yellow star" began to fade, as if melting before our eyes. She wasn't getting closer or moving away, no. As if enveloped "from nowhere" by the mist that came from. It seemed to dissolve or fade away in this fog. we reached the crossroads (we walked 50 meters) while we were walking, I told him, "we will watch the Aurora borealis soon in the Moscow region." He replied, "Yes, it's probably something chemical in Romantsevo (district center)." I thought about it and said, "No, Romantsevo has nothing to do with it." with that we parted, the man went straight across the railway to the "white houses", and I turned right and walked along the forest. By the time of parting, the "star" could no longer be distinguished, a green luminous cloud formed in its place - the cloud increased and the green light emitted by it became dimmer.

I was walking along the forest and all the time I was looking at this strange, but obvious and quite probable phenomenon (acceptable in my opinion).

After 10 minutes I was near the house and once again looked at this part of the sky, the cloud was increasing and turned pale green, and in my opinion it was slowly rising... Upon entering my house, my son rushed to me "Dad, let's play chess or scrabble" and I temporarily forgot about this phenomenon. I remembered this somehow casually in a conversation with my wife on January 31, and she replied to me, "Lisa Bakulina brought a newspaper today, it seems, "Labor", and finds a newspaper with an article "at 4.10" in which your request to write in detail about such phenomena, otherwise I would not have written this letter...
