An ex-com. Platoon Office Art. l-t Jalaginov Gennady. Mountains. Vsevolozhsk-2, Goncharovsky Avenue, 196:
On August 26, 1943, on the Kursk arc in the sector of the front of the village of Romanovka, 3 farms, Polyana and Khomutovka, I had to observe a rare phenomenon: artillery training on the defense of German troops began after the disappearance of fog at 9 o'clock. Morning.
About 30 to 40 minutes later, when our battery moved the fire into the depths of the enemy's defense, I left the observation post and after inspecting the German front line, decided to examine the sky along the way, because the enemy bombed this part of our front often.
Not finding anything suspicious, my mind involuntarily fell on a sickle-shaped object, racing at a very high speed in a south-westerly direction and soon disappeared from my field of vision. The color of this object in front and back was the same, bluish-dark color with overflows, to the middle turning into light orange.
It seemed as if this giant dolphin was breathing, as the middle part of the object was decreasing, then increasing and all this spectacle seemed to be somehow animated, impressive, against the background of deafening volleys of our artillery and countless breaks.
I give the names of some participants of these unforgettable events. The commander of our 1156 howitzer artillery regiment was Major Nazarenko, the commander of the division Captain Opanasenko, the commander of the battery Art. l-t. Puchkov, deputy. Bomber. Battery Art. l-t Denisov, scouts V. Zyablov, Vaganov, Tupitsyn, etc.
