ROMA, 18 de septiembre. Un radar italiano rastreó durante 39 minutos anoche un gran objeto en forma de cigarro visto por miles de romanos, informó hoy aquí la fuerza aérea italiana.
La fuerza aérea dijo que la estación Pratica di Mare, a 40 millas al suroeste de Roma, registró el objeto a las 6:49 pm (hora local) y lo mantuvo en la pantalla del radar hasta las 7:28 pm.
La instalación voló a 3.600 pies a lo largo de una sección de 15 millas de la costa al oeste de la capital. Voló lentamente, luego, ganando mucha velocidad, desapareció.
La fuerza aérea agregó que el objeto tenía la forma de un cigarro cortado por la mitad. El humo salía de la parte trasera afilada.
Miles de romanos llamaron a la policía para decir que habían visto el objeto.

Radar Screens Flying Saucer
ROME, Sept. 18. - An Italian radar station tracked for 39 minutes last night a big, cigar-shaped object seen by thousands of Romans, the Italian Air Force announced here today.
The Air Force said the station of Pratica Di Mare, 40 miles south-west of Rome, picked up the object at 6-49 p.m. (local time) and held it on the radar screen until 7-28 p.m.
The object flew at 3,600 feet along a 15-mile stretch of coast west of the capital. It flew slowly before making great speed and disappearing.
The Air Force added that the object was shaped like a cigar cut in half. Smoke poured from the pointed rear.
Thousands of Romans phoned the police to say they had seen the object.
Many said its exhaust trail across the sky was luminous - Reuter.
