Después de asaltar repetidamente a sus animales de granja, Rafael Moreno estaba de guardia una noche cuando vio un "pájaro extraño" con una envergadura muy superior a seis pies (1,8 m) sentado en una rama de árbol.
El pájaro monstruo voló sobre el ranchero y aterrizó detrás de él, obligándolo a dar la vuelta y dispararle con un rifle. La criatura corrió a los Everglades, y nadie más lo vio.

After suffering form repeated attacks on his farm animals, Rafael Moreno was keeping watch one night when he noticed a “weird bird” with a wingspan well in excess of six feet perched on a tree limb. The monster bird flew over the rancher and landed behind him, prompting him to spin around and shoot it with his rifle. The creature ran into the Everglades and was not seen again.
