La pareja estaba conduciendo por Mountville Road cuando, al acercarse al cruce de Bear Creek, vieron a una enorme criatura parecida a un pájaro de pie al costado de la carretera.
Saltando desde el lado este de la carretera, el "pájaro" voló bajo al Suelo, justo en frente de su automóvil. Al cruzar la carretera, el pájaro continuó volando bajo hacia el denso bosque en el lado oeste de la carretera.
La esposa estimó que la envergadura del Ave era de al menos 10 pies (3 m). También dijo que era negro como un Cuervo.
El esposo pensó que el Ave era difícil de despegar del Suelo y que tenía "alas largas y delgadas".
Ambos también dijeron que el Ave en el Suelo tenía una altura asombrosa de 3,5 pies (1 m). Ambos se sorprendieron de que este enorme pájaro volara hacia el bosque, no hacia el cielo.

A married couple was driving on the Mountville Road when as they neared Bear Creek crossing they saw a huge bird like creature standing on the side of the road. Jumping up from the east side of the road the “bird” flew low to the ground and in front of their car. Crossing over the road, the bird continued to fly low and into some thick woods on the west side of the road. The wife estimated the bird’s wingspan to be at least 10 feet. She also said it was black like a crow. The husband though that the bird was having trouble getting off the ground, and that it had “long slender wings.” Both also said that the bird on the ground stood an amazing 3-1/2 feet tall. They were both surprised that this huge bird flew into the woods instead of up into the sky.
