Viajé con mi tío y su familia desde nuevo México de regreso a Dallas. Nos dirigimos hacia el sur por la carretera 287. Acabamos de pasar por una granja en algún lugar del área de Clarendon, Texas, que conocíamos por el fuerte olor a heces de ganado. Íbamos en el camión doble de mi tío.
Todos se dormían y se apoyaban el uno en el otro, así que mi primo y yo le preguntamos a su padre si podíamos acostarnos en la parte trasera del camión. Estuvo de acuerdo y se detuvo para que pudiéramos salir y crear una cama improvisada en la bodega de carga del camión.
Mi primo y yo nos acostamos de espaldas, mirando al cielo. Comentamos sobre la pureza del cielo y muchas estrellas, y de repente un objeto volador circular giratorio apareció en un lado del cielo con pequeñas luces alrededor de los bordes. Lo vimos moverse lentamente hacia el suroeste.
Se movía demasiado lento para el avión. Y el cielo estaba despejado, casi una Luna llena, por lo que pudimos verlo de una manera que no podía ser parte del avión. Las luces en los bordes fueron pintadas en diferentes momentos. Cambiaron el color de rojo a verde, luego a azul, luego a amarillo oscuro, y luego el patrón comenzó una y otra vez.
Mi primo y yo exclamamos por primera vez: "¿has visto esto ?!»
Nos acostamos y lo miramos hasta que lo volvimos a ver.
Fue la primera vez que vi un OVNI. Debo admitir que era muy escéptico sobre los Ovnis, los extraterrestres y cosas por el estilo. Pero esa experiencia me hizo creer que no somos el único tipo de formas de vida inteligentes aquí en la Tierra.
Me pregunto por qué nuestro gobierno debería ocultar los hechos. Personas como tú y yo ahora parecen estar constantemente observando cosas como esta. Espero que mi observación ayude a otros a decidir por sí mismos si este fenómeno existe o no. Lo creo.

I was traveling with my uncle and his family from New Mexico back to Dallas. We were traveling south on US Hwy 287. We had just past a ranching depot somewhere around Clarendon, Texas which we knew because of the overpowering stench of cattle feces. We were traveling in my uncle’s dually truck. Everyone was falling asleep and leaning on each other, so my cousin and I asked his dad if we could lie in the truck bed. He agreed and he pulled over so we could get out and create a makeshift bed in the truck’s cargo area. My cousin and I were lying on our backs looking up at the sky. We were commenting on the clearness of the sky and multitudes of stars, and all of a sudden a rotating round flying object with small lights along the edges appeared on one side of the sky. We watched it travel slowly southwestbound. It was moving way to slow for an aircraft. And the sky was clear with a near full moon so we could see it in plainview that it could not be a part of an aircraft. The lights around the edges were colored at different times. They would change from red to green, then to blue, then to dark yellow, then the pattern would begin all over again constantly. My cousin and I both exclaimed at the first time, “Did you see THAT?!” We lied there and stared at it until we couldn’t see it anymore. It was the very first time I had ever seen a UFO. I have to admit, I was a big skeptic about UFOs, aliens, and the like. But that experience has made me believe that we are not the only species of intelligent life forms here on earth. I only wonder why our government has to hide facts. People like you and me witness this kind of thing it seems like all the time now. Hopefully my sighting will help others decide for themselves whether or not this phenomenon exists. I believe it.
