The river flows Kowmung in the state of New South Wales, Australia West of Sydney.
In 1989, a resident of Sydney Gary Jones spoke about how he met near the river of humanoid hairy creature. In Australia all such creatures name is the word "Yovi" and consider the analogue of the North American Bigfoot or Yeti. But the researchers actually know very little about Yovi and more stories about it are legends of the local aboriginal people. Therefore, the story of Gary Jones proved to be one of the best report of the meeting with this creature.
Gary was 15 or 16 years and he, along with two friends that day went to rest in the national Park Kanangra-Boyd. Reporters learned about this case in 2003, when Gary gave detailed interviews.
"Three of us often go on the river Kowmung to fish, there are delicious trouts. Including this place we like because there are very few people, because there is not so easy to get to on a mountain bike with stops for rest it will take six hours.
Because there's a lot of thinly populated not frightened wild animals, bushes swarming with kangaroos, wombats, and slightly upstream, you can even meet a platypus. Took to the roads early in the morning, we arrived around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and then about an hour engaged in fishing. Then we decided to run and started to collect firewood.
We walked along the river Bank and then one of the friends said to me "what's that over there?" and pointed to the opposite Bank of the river. There, about thirty meters from us, stood something tall and humanoid, but instead of clothes his body was covered with hair. I once saw a very hairy man on the beach, but it was much more hairier. I barely managed to utter "I Think this man," and then we walked up a little closer to examine it.
The creature stood with his back to us in a rather strange position. One leg was on the rocky shore, half in the water and he stood there with his legs apart, just a little bit and I think he would sit down on the twine. The shore in that place was steep, and the depth of water more than a meter.
This creature is heavily leaned towards the water and began to draw water into a large hand and drink. Noisy water drowned all around and we could only watch the creature and not heard, uttered whether it is any of your sounds. When we came closer and we had only fourteen metres of water, the creature suddenly straightened up and turned to face us. It stood very straight and looked at us in the face.
Growth it was almost two meters, legs were straight and long. I'm very chubby and weigh somewhere 100-112 kg, so he weighed a little more than I do, but it didn't seem thick, as he had well developed muscles. It struck me as similar to American football players, as he was very straight wide shoulders and a short neck. His hands did not seem particularly long, that is, were not like apes, but as humans. Hair covered his whole body and was dark brown. About the color will be black dogs, whose coat is much will burn under the sun.
On his head stood out of the beard and long hair, and they were greatly confused and aroused in me a feeling of disgust, both from the slovenly dirty person. Also the hair on his head was formed into some dense nodes, something like dreadlocks. The hair on the rest of the body was much shorter and denser. When at the end of the creature walked away from us, I noticed that he had bare soles feet dirty, but no hair. Even his buttocks were covered with hair.
The sockets of the face were deep and I had never seen anything like it. It was not the face of a man, but it also wasn't like a monkey face. The forehead was very large and twice as long my forehead. The top of the head seemed to be elongated and tapered. His eyes were very dark and the lips. When he looked at us, his face showing no emotion. He's not snarling, not frowning, not rocks, not faces. However, he showed no fear of us.
Then he just turned and walked away from us. When he got to the line very thorny bushes, where the common man would never crawled, he never even slowed down and just pushed his way through them and disappeared in the depths of the thickets. When he left, we instinctively wanted to follow him, but the river stopped us. There was a very strong current and when we finally moved to the other side, he had already disappeared. But we realized there's a very strong unpleasant smell it was the smell of ammonia (urine).
Then we went in the direction where he left and some time heard him puffing and noisy moves in the Bush. By the time I became already dark and we realized that we should go while we in spite of everything wanted to get him into the woods. On the way back we found in the bushes a few torn shreds of his hair. We could take them, but none of us thought to do it. To be honest, then we all three decided that it was just a wild aborigine.
We also saw large footprints in the sand on the shore. Later we came to this place a few times, but never met him. And notice, we never called him Yovi or a Yeti, only a savage or wild man.
We don't know who it was. We of course heard the legends about Yovi, but was it really Yovi?"
