A principios de enero de 1998, un hombre (PM) y su novia caminaban sobre hielo congelado en el lago Temagami, frente a la costa de Bear Island. Eran alrededor de las 12:30 cuando vio un resplandor verde de unos 50 metros de ancho sobre la línea de árboles. Al principio lo ignoró, pensando que su mente estaba jugando trucos, luego la luz se volvió roja durante 3 segundos y luego se volvió verde nuevamente.
Él escribe:
"No hay semáforos en Bear Island porque es demasiado pequeño para los automóviles. Mi amigo y yo entramos en pánico y corrimos a casa de donde venimos. Llamé inmediatamente a mi padre, él es el agente de reserva para revisar las luces. Saltó en el Ski-Doo a la luz brillante, y desapareció detrás del horizonte. Al día siguiente, dos aviones a reacción de la base aérea de North Bay volaron sobre la misma área donde estaban las luces. ¿Es una coincidencia?

In early January of 1998, a man (PM) and his girlfriend were walking along the frozen ice on Lake Temagami near the shoreline of Bear Island. The time was about 12:30 a.m. when he saw a green glow about 50 metres wide above the tree line. At first, he ignored it, thinking his mind was playing tricks, then the light turned red for 3 seconds, then back to green. He writes: 'There are no traffic lights on Bear Island because it's too small to fit cars. My friend and I began to panic and turned to run home where we came from. I immediately called my dad, who is the reserve constable, to check out the light. He jumped on his ski-doo towards the glowing light and it disappeared into the horizon. Then the following day there were two air force jets from the North Bay airbase flying over the same area where the lights were. Is this a coincidence? My mother recalls she and a group of her friends saw something very similar as a teenager hovering above the ice near the same area.'
